RWANDA GORILLA TREK
This safari takes you to Rwanda - a land of thousand hills, for mountain gorilla tracking in the Parc des Volcanoes National park. Other safari activities include golden monkey tracking, a visit to Ross Carr's orphanage and Lake Kivu or a climb to the Visoke/Muhavura volcanoes, or trek to Dian Fossey's grave, Lake Bulera and the local communities.
RWANDA GORILLA TREK ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Parc Des Volcanoes
You will meet our guide on arrival at airport and transfer to Kigali. Have lunch and then depart for PNV at 2pm. The journey goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge (FB).
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Parc Des Volacnoes
Wake up early morning and have breakfast then go for gorilla tracking in Parc National des Volcanoes. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience. If you have luck, you can get to the gorillas quickly, spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for a late lunch. Some gorilla families however are more elusive and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge (FB).
Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking
Wake up and have breakfast then visit the golden monkeys, visit Ross Carr's orphanage and Lake Kivu or climb the Visoke/Muhavura volcanoes, or trek to Dian Fossey's grave, or visit the local school, community projects or walk to Lake Bulera. . Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge (FB).
Day 4: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to the airport
Leave for Kigali after breakfast in the morning. Time permitting; you will go for a tour of the city including a visit to the market, pottery project, handicraft shops, the Franco-Rwandan cultural centre and the genocide memorial. Transfer to the airport to catch your flight back home.
