CULTURE AND WILDIFE IN UGANDA AND RWANDA
Day 1: Airport Transfer and cultural activity
You will be met at the Airport by our guide who will transfer you to your hotel. Time permitting you will be taken to visit the part of the Kabaka's Trail. May go for traditional dance at Bagalayanze or Ndere Cultural center. Or visit the Namugongo shrine where the first Christian coverts were ordered to be burnt alive by the then Buganda King - Kabaka Mwanga in 1886. Dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge/ Serena Hotel/ Sheraton Hotel/ Hotel Africana/ Tourist Hotel/ Holiday Express Hotel.
Day 2: City Tour and Proceed to Kibale National Park.
Take morning city tour after breakfast. Visit the Kasubi tombs Uganda Museum, bustling Nakasero Market and National theatre crafts center. You will have lunch at your hotel and after lunch drive to Fort Portal town to Kibale. You will get there late evening, dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/ Primates Lodge Kanyanchu/ Rwenzori Mountains View Hotel.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking
Wake up early morning and proceed to Kanyanchu Tourist Centre after a cup of coffee. You will be briefed by the park authorities before you enter the park. You will then proceed to the forest with the help of the guides who will make your walk interesting and informative. The time taken to track these primates is unpredictable depending on the time you spend searching for these humble apes. Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon if time allows, you will visit local markets if this day falls on market day and other local communities Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/ Primates Lodge Kanyanchu/ Rwenzori Mountains View Hotel.
Day 4: Kibale/Fort Portal to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will visit the Toro Palace and other cultural places in Fort Portal before driving to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will have lunch at Mweya Safari Lodge or any other accommodation unit near the park. In the afternoon, you will have a game drive to the crater area. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Jacana Lodge or Institute Ecology Hostel.
Day 5: Game viewing at Queen Elizabeth Park
After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive and explore the wild game lion, elephant, buffalo, antelopes and plenty of bird life. Return for lunch and in the afternoon take boat cruise on Kazinga channel. Here you will have a chance to view more of birdlife especially the water birds, hippos, crocodiles and many water animals along and in the river. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Jacana Lodge or Institute Ecology Hostel.
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth to Kabale
You will have a morning game drive looking for variety of wildlife lion, leopard, elephant, hyena after breakfast. Then transfer to Kabale. Overnight at Acadia cottages/Habuharo lodge /Bunyonyi Resort or Overland camp. Time allowing, you will visit some Bakiga cultural cites
Day 7: Lake Bunyonyi to Rwanda
In the morning following breakfast, take a boat ride on scenic Lake Bunyonyi, visit some community/cultural activities of Bakiga,iron smith, thereafter proceed to Rwanda via Kigali to Ruhengeri dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Hotel or Kinigi Guest House.
Day 8: Gorilla trekking in Parc des Volcanoes
Following breakfast, track gorillas in Parc des volcanoes. You will receive a briefing from the local guides and then enter the park for gorilla adventure. The time taken and the terrain vary according to the movements of these great primates. The thrill of meeting them face-to-face takes away the pain of the long and strenuous trek. Trail back to the camp to recount your experiences in the forest. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Hotel or Kinigi Guest House.
Day 9: Ruhengeri to Kigali and Genocide Memorial sites
Drive to Kigali in the morning after breakfast; visit the genocide sites and other cultural sites in Kigali highlights. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Mill Collins or Hotel Cchezlando or Hotel Okapi.
Day 10: Transfer to Mbarara
Following breakfast you will drive back to Uganda crossing through Katuna and stay at Agip Motel in Mbarara or at Rwizi Arch or Oxford Inn Mbarara.
Day 11: Visit the Banyankole Cultural sites
Wake up and have breakfast then visit cultural sites in Mbarara which include the Banyankole Kingdom shrines. You will also visit the Banyankole homestead and learn their culture. You will visit women groups and orphanage homes. After lunch proceed Kampala stopping at equator- experience stand in 2 hemispheres at ago, take lifetime photographs, and stop at Mpambire crafts point a drum making area. Arrive in Kampala in the evening and overnight.
Day 12: Craft Centers in Kampala and Airport
Incase you still have time before your flight back home, visit different craft shopping center like African Village at Buganda road, the crafts centre at National theatre and buy some souvenirs then proceed to the airport for your home bound flight.
